Ramadhan Malay Style

Objective : To Show The Malay Culture's way of celebrating Ramadhan

Malay have many ways of celebrating the Ramadhan in one month. we learn to experience ourself to feel how does to be in a place of poor without enough needs and wants that they had struggle for so long. The main event or activity which is a must in Ramadhan that we practice to fasting in one month starts from dawn until twilight or Subuh until Maghrib. The benifits during the duration of fasting, we learn to control ourselves from eating, drinking and also to control our lust from doing something bad. Mostly we can withstand this with doing something beneficial in both Fardu 'Ain and Kifayah as reward can be two times the "pahala" that we usually received.

Other than Fasting, We also practices "Sahur" which is waking up in the middle of the morning between 4 am to regain our energy for the next fasting before the Subuh Azan started to echo which to remind about the Subuh prayer can be pray at that time but at the same time we must start to fasting. Adding more information, our prophet Muhammad S.A.W also wakes up for sahur and he just drink plain water with "Buah Kurma". this shows that Sahur is one practices even our prophet do and it's "Sunat" to do it.

More over after Fasting during the night after isyak, another activity will be doing as a routine in ramadhan which is the "Solat Tarawikh" which means "Solat yang merehatkan". This routine can be done in everynight of ramadhan in between time of solat isyak before dawn. where we can pray all by ourselves or congregational at home or the mosque. The prayer also will practices to zikir every after the fourth rakaat and must di done calmly. The reason we practices Solat Tarawikh is to feel near with Allah S.W.T and it's the worship that will make the night of ramadhan alive because we can gather everyone to practice the worship together. Not only that the prayer also is for us to hope for blessing and forgiveness from Allah S.W.T.
